11 West ward
11 West is a 23-bedded ward for patients under the specialties of HIV / infectious diseases and respiratory medicine. The service works very much with a multidisciplinary approach, referring to other specialities in the hospital as required.
We manage the care of patients holistically, addressing their psychological as well as medical needs, and often referring patients to the HIV psychology service.
Specialist HIV nurses focus on discharge planning and help with referrals to other centres such as the MildMay (HIV rehabilitation and brain impairment unit). We work alongside the Ian Charleson Day Centre out-patient HIV clinic and admit patients directly from there.
