HIV services: Psychiatry

The Ian Charleson Day Centre has its own dedicated psychiatry service. A range of mental illnesses are treated, though some people who need a more complex service might be referred to their community mental health team.

Self-referrals can be made by speaking to a member of staff at the ICDC (020 7830 2062), a psychiatrist (020 7830 2240) or a psychologist (020 7830 2445). Typically a patient will be seen more frequently at the beginning of treatment. Probably every two to three weeks, then periodically once the problem has been stabilised. They will then be discharged to the referrer, as appropriate. Some patients may be referred to the psychology team. We try to be as open as possible to the needs of each individual patient.
