Neurology out-patient aftercare

What to expect after an out-patient visit

The outcome of a neurology out-patient visit is likely to be.

  1. Diagnosis and treatment plan which may include further neurology out-patient follow-up or discharge back to the referring doctor or GP
  2. Out-patient investigations e.g. brain scan, nerve conduction studies, blood tests, with plan for neurology follow-up or communicating results to the referring doctor or GP
  3. Plan for admission (after being place on waiting list) for further investigations e.g. lumbar puncture to (a) Programmed Investigation and Treatment Unit or (b) planned admission to the ward (6 East) or rarely (c) emergency admission
  4. Queries from patients who are on the waiting list should be directed to the waiting list coordinator extension: 35399

    Queries from patients who are not on the waiting list may be directed to the neurology secretary of the supervising neurology consultant.
