The final business case for the redevelopment of Chase Farm Hospital has been submitted to the government following approval by the board of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
Government approval of the business case will open the way for additional public funds to be made available to deliver a purpose built hospital on the Enfield side in additional to hundreds of new homes.
In total the government is set to contribute £82 million towards the scheme, with the rest of the cost met by the sale of surplus land and funds invested by the Royal Free London.
David Sloman, chief executive of the Royal Free London, said: “Board approval of the business case brings us another step closer to securing the funds we need to transform Chase Farm into a hospital that is fit for modern healthcare and will help us deliver world class care to the local community for many years to come.”
The trust is also due to submit further planning applications to Enfield Council to finalise details of the multi-million pound scheme.
