Fabry and the family web chat

Lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs) are a group of rare inherited disorders, including Fabry disease, in which there is abnormal storage of large chemical molecules in various organ systems in the body.

Dr Derralynn Hughes, clinical director of haematology and oncology, and Dr Uma Ramaswami, consultant paediatrician in inherited metabolic disorders, will be answering your questions on Fabry and the family from 6-7pm on Thursday 2 June.

Topics they will discuss include:

  • the importance of diagnosis of Fabry disease in families and how they can be informed, counselled and screened
  • how and when to start treatment in adults and children
  • how to care for patients who don’t require treatments
  • how to monitor the effect of treatment and what other supportive care can be given.
