Cancer patients have a high risk of developing nutritional problems either from the treatment they receive e.g. chemotherapy and radiotherapy or from the disease itself. The cancer team provides dietetic support to haematology, oncology and neuroendocrine tumour patients. A specialist service is currently provided to the inpatient wards, chemotherapy and radiotherapy suites and to a number of outpatient locations.
Advice and support is given on:
- Choosing suitable foods to help manage symptoms
- Dietary modification to regain lost weight
- Tube feeding, which can be required if eating becomes too difficult
