At present, elective adult orthopaedic care (which includes planned hip and knee replacement operations and other kinds of bone & joint surgery) is currently delivered in 10 different hospitals in the area, including the Royal Free London group.

North London Partners (a partnership of five local CCGs and local authorities) is currently reviewing this arrangement, as they believe it could improve the quality of that care to create a smaller number of specialist centres where all of these procedures take place.  They are currently asking for the views of local patients and residents and have published a draft case for change which describes the rationale for this thinking.  Anyone with views is invited to read the case for change and let the partnership know their thoughts.

You can read the full case for change on the NLP website at:  www.northlondonpartners.org.uk/orthopaedicreview.   You can then respond online or by attending one of the events detailed on the website.

The review is not looking at emergency or paediatric surgery.
