Along with the rest of the country, everyone at the Royal Free London is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

Her duty and dedication to the nation and the Commonwealth have served as an inspiration to us all throughout her long reign. Our thoughts are with the entire Royal Family at this sad time.

Royal Free London chair Mark Lam said: “On behalf everybody at the Royal Free London I would like to share my deepest condolences with the Royal Family at this extremely sad time.

“Her Majesty’s absolute commitment to serving the people of this country and the Commonwealth during her 70-year reign has been truly inspirational and she has brought the nation together like no other - a constant source of joy, humility and integrity. May she rest in peace."

We were honoured when, in 1978, Her Majesty The Queen officially opened our new Royal Free Hospital when it moved from Gray’s Inn Road to our current location in Hampstead. She met members of our dedicated staff as she was shown around the new building.
