Following a rigorous judging process, the Royal Free London's SISOS programme (Safety incident supporting our staff) has been recognised as the 'Best Staff Wellbeing Initiative' in this year's Nursing Times Workforce Awards. SISOS was initiated five years ago to provide accessible, timely, non-judgmental support for staff psychologically affected by patient safety incidents.

The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday 22 November and brought together over 700 professionals from across the health and care community.

Finalists and members of the nursing community attended a glittering awards ceremony covering 17 categories recognising organisations going above and beyond to recruit and retain their nursing workforce.

Congratulations to our SISOS team, who were praised by judges for their originality, innovation, and great use of psychological support. Initially the project was local to the theatre department at Chase Farm Hospital and it has since extended across the trust. SISOS listeners signpost staff to the relevant professional support agencies and have initiated weekly wellbeing walkabouts.

Carol Menashy, mental health first aider, reflected on the award win: "Thanks to everyone who has supported this initiative especially the staff at Chase Farm hospital who’ve been there from the beginning. But also the occupational health psychology teams and the Royal Free Charity. Without their continuing support and guidance this work would not be possible. And of course a massive thank you to Maria Aristodemou, SISOS key listener. You’re a star."
