Great experience in the rheumatology department

I have been under the care of the rheumatology team for many years. While it’s true that sometimes the department is crowded, I think everyone, from the doctors to the receptionists are doing a fantastic job in the face of difficult circumstances. The care itself is absolutely superb; my rheumatoid arthritis is completely under control, in great part due to the excellent skills of all the doctors in the department. Waiting 30 minutes for this great, free care is absolutely no problem. A suggestion: if the waiting time is longer (once it was 3 hours) perhaps the Royal Free could send an automatic sms to all the patients due that day so that they can come in a bit later.

Couldn't be better

I went to the Urgent Care Centre mid-afternoon June 6th to have some stitches removed from a knee operation? It was a quiet time there and I was seen just five minutes after checking in. The male nurse quickly put me at ease and removed the stitches in less than five minutes. I did not feel any pain and I can't praise him enough for turning what I feared was going to be a painful experience into almost a pleasurable one at the hands of such a professional, competent and pleasant man. Thank you very, very much.

Endoscopy

I visited Chase Farm Endoscopy Unit last week feeling extremely nervous and anxious about what I would be having done. Immediately I was put at ease and reassured about the procedure. The staffs were so friendly - two members in particular were so polite, kind and reassuring and they made me feel at ease by explaining thoroughly the procedure, after care, what to expect etc. They had a lovely personal touch and made me feel that they genuinely cared and wanted to make me comfortable. Overall, the procedure went very well. The doctor was extremely informative and I had a lovely nurse assisting (I didn't catch her name). Thank you for making this experience so pain free and comfortable.

My mum was treated at the coronary care unit and I could not fault the care she received. I would personally like to thank Isabel (staff nurse) who was responsible for monitoring my mother’s condition. She was compassionate, kind, informative, thorough and went over and above her role. I want her to be recognised for the genuine care she provided.  If you read this Isabel, you are amazing and I hope there are many more nurses who possess your skills and compassion and have the privilege to work alongside you so that they are able to be inspired by your passion for nursing.

My partner had a tumour removed from his liver 3 weeks ago which originated with bowel cancer 4 years ago. Yesterday, just three weeks after very major surgery we were told the tumour was completely removed and there was no need for chemotherapy either, the best outcome we could have ever hoped for. The past few weeks have been terrifying at times but Mr Pollok and his team have saved my partners life, performed amazing surgery with no issues despite the severity - the care by all was outstanding and we are truly grateful to this wonderful surgeon who couldn’t have done any better for us. My partner is up and about and feeling very well and has made a remarkable recovery ongoing. THANK YOU Royal Free!

Not sure she can do the Conga as just had a liver Transplant at the Royal Free, but a massive thanks to the QA in Herpetology and Haematology over the last 5-7 years, without which my wife Lyn, would not have had her 70th Birthday. Now she has that chance in 3 years time. Thank you
