Managing neuroendocrine tumours (NET) is very challenging and requires expertise and multi-disciplinary team (MDT) work.
Despite the availability of several international guidelines as well as conferences and courses on a yearly basis, there are still unmet needs in the NET education of doctors, radiologists and histopathologists.
The NET service at the Royal Free Hospital (RFH) became an ENETS Centre of Excellence in 2010. It has a cohort of approximately 2,000 patients under regular follow-up. The service has substantial experience in NET education, as it has organised several teaching events such as the first International Symposium on Carcinoid Heart Disease in September 2014, the ENETS Summer School in September 2016 and many international preceptorship visits for several groups of NET physicians from all over the world. Also, RFH NET consultants are regular speakers and organisers of many national and international NET events.
Our NET Academy: 27-29 April 2020
We are holding the first ‘hands on’ neuro endocrine tumour (NET) academy at the Royal Free Hospital (RFH) in April.
The academy is open to specialist NET doctors, as well as radiologists/nuclear medicine doctors and histopathologists.
During the three-day academy, visiting specialist NET doctors will have the opportunity to join the RFH NET clinic, which is attended by 60 NET patients, and the NET multi-disciplinary meeting – at which 50-60 patient cases will be discussed.
Radiologists/nuclear medicine (NM) doctors and histopathologists will have the opportunity to improve their skills, by reporting challenging NET imaging and histopathology slides respectively, in collaboration with our experienced NET radiologists/NM doctors and histopathologists.
The agenda will also include lectures on updates in diagnosis and management of NETs and also a session in NET translational medicine.
The delegates are expected to arrive in London on Sunday 26 April and stay in a 4* Hotel, close to RFH, for three nights. Lunches and coffee breaks will be offered at RFH. Dinners, where delegates will have the opportunity to meet and discuss further with the faculty, will take place in restaurants outside RFH.
We would like to thank you for your interest and will be delighted if you apply to join us for this highly interactive meeting. Please note that places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Deadline for registrations is Sunday 19 January 2020.
The successful candidates will be notified by Sunday 2 February 2020.
