Biography
Dr Rimi Shah was appointed as a consultant in HIV and genitourinary medicine at the Royal Free Hospital and Barnet Hospital in 2005, having trained as a SpR in GUM/HIV medicine at Guys and St Thomas’ hospitals. She qualified from the Royal Free Hospital medical school. Her clinical practice includes HIV medicine and management of sexually transmitted infections and complex GUM related problems. She is lead clinician for HIV (Barnet site). Her specialist and research interests are in women’s health, particularly in the management of recurrent vaginal infections, and in the antenatal care of women with blood bourne viruses/STIs, including HIV, and is the antenatal HIV lead (Barnet site). She is actively involved in evolving and improving sexual health services in the community and within the trust and increasing GPs’ awareness of management and prevention of STIs and HIV, through education. She has also been a driving force in expanding the GUM services to Edgware community hospital.
