Assessment centres and open days

The Royal Free London holds monthly assessment and interview days at Chase Farm Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital for all band 2 nursing assistant and band 5 staff nurse vacancies. 

We also hold open days throughout the year at Barnet Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital. The open days provide the opportunity for you to meet with clinical staff from a variety of specialities, our education team and our HR teams. The teams are happy to answer any questions you may have to help you make the best career choice for you. The open days also offer assessment and interview for all those who have applied in advance and been shortlisted.

Assessment and interview

An assessment is a two-part numeracy and literacy test consisting of a series of drugs calculations followed by a written assessment based on patient care scenarios. You must pass the assessment in order to progress to interview.

You will be informed of the outcome of your interview at the assessment centre or the open day and your preference for hospital and speciality will be discussed with you. Successful applicants will receive their conditional job offer within three working days and will be invited to book a pre-employment check appointment.
