Weekly services and events in the Chaplaincy-Spiritual Care Department

Prayer rooms, chapels and Shabbat rooms are available to patients, visitors, volunteers and staff. Everyone is welcome. They are a space for quiet and reflection in the midst of busy hospitals.

Barnet Hospital Multi-Faith Chaplaincy Centre

Prayer room

Barnet Hospital's prayer room is accessible 24 hours a day. The entrance is from the hospital's atrium, on level 0.

Regular services:

  • Sunday, 3.30pm: Christian service with Holy Communion
  • Wednesday and Thursday, 12.30pm: Eucharistic devotion
  • Wednesday and Thursday, 1pm: Roman Catholic Mass
  • Friday, 1pm (November to February) or 1.15pm (March to October): Muslim Jumu’ah prayers

Muslim prayer room

The Muslim prayer room is accessible 24 hours a day. It is located next to the chapel and is available for daily prayers.

Jewish Shabbat room

The Jewish Shabbat room is located next to the prayer room and is currently available during Shabbat only. The door code for access is obtainable from a chaplain or from the security office located close to the main entrance. Light kosher refreshments are supplied by Ezra U’Marpeh under Kedassiah supervision.

Chase Farm Hospital Chapel

Chase Farm Hospital's chapel is open only during the day. It can be found in between the clock tower building and the Highlands wing. If it is locked, hospital staff can borrow the key from the switchboard. They will need their trust ID badge.

Regular services:

  • Sunday, 11.15am: Christian service with Holy Communion
  • Monday, 5pm: Roman Catholic Mass
  • Wednesday, 1.15pm: Christian service with Holy Communion
  • Friday, 1pm (November to February) or 1.15pm (March to October): Muslim Jumu’ah prayers

Chapel

Regular services and events:

  • Sunday 10.30am Roman Catholic Mass
  • Monday 12.30pm Mindfulness (Starting 17th Sept) 
  • Wednesday, 12.30pm Meditation (Starting 19th Sept)
  • Wednesday 5.30pm Yoga (Starting 19th Sept) £3 per session, please register and book by emailing clairecarson@nhs.net   
  • Friday 1pm (November to February) or 1.15pm (March to October): Muslim Jumu’ah prayers

Holy Communion for Anglican and Roman Catholic patients can be arranged by the bedside.  

Muslim prayer room

The Muslim prayer room, next to the chapel, is open 4.30am-11pm and has integral separate male and female washing facilities (wudhu). It is available for daily prayers.

Jewish Shabbat room

The Shabbat room is located next to the chaplaincy office on the medical school corridor. It is open 24-hours a day via a door code obtainable from the chaplaincy office, or from the security office located at the entrance to the emergency department on the lower ground floor. The room is available for prayer, reflection and refreshment over Shabbat and throughout the week. Light kosher refreshments are supplied by Ezra U’Marpeh under Kedassiah supervision.
