Infection prevention and control

Help us fight hospital infections at the Royal Free London

We take hygiene and infection control and prevention very seriously at our hospitals. We have strict measures in place to ensure you are unlikely to pick up an infection, such as MRSA, on top of the medical condition you have been admitted to hospital or are visiting a clinic for.

How does the Royal Free London combat hospital infections?

We have a specific team responsible for increasing hygiene and fighting hospital infections at the Royal Free London. The director of nursing and infection prevention and control, who reports directly to the chief executive, has a dedicated infection prevention and control team providing specialist advice and support to staff, patients and visitors.

We have a clear strategy and proactive approach for continually reducing hospital infections, including keeping infected patients apart from others and enforcing a strict hygiene routine for everyone in our care.
