The trust has three Macmillan Cancer information and support service centres, one at each of our three main hospitals. Please see below for the opening times and contact details for each one.
Cancer information and support at Barnet Hospital
The Macmillan cancer information and support centre was developed in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support. It is an additional resource at Barnet Hospital for those being treated for cancer.
The centre, in the main entrance of Barnet Hospital, provides a relaxed and friendly environment where patients, their family and friends, can ask questions and talk through their concerns with a cancer specialist. We are open Monday-Friday between 10am-4pm (excluding bank holidays).

Cancer advice and cancer support: what do we offer?
Our library of resources includes useful information on all aspects of cancer care, as well details of local and national cancer support agencies and services. We also provide a weekly benefits cancer advice service in conjunction with the local Citizens Advice Centre. This is open to residents of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.
If you would like to make an appointment, please call 020 8440 4227, or you can see an advisor without an appointment between 10am and 12.30pm on Tuesdays. If you are coming to the hospital only to meet an advisor please call first and confirm the session is running. You can do this using the number above.
Questions about cancer care: what do people ask us?
When providing cancer information, we are often asked the following questions:

- What support is available to me as a carer?
- Do you have any details of local and national cancer support groups?
- Do you have details for complementary therapy services?

Cancer information and support at Chase Farm Hospital
A second Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service is available at Chase Farm Hospital. We offer a friendly service to help anyone affected by cancer for you to ask questions and talk through your concerns.
If making a long or specific journey please call 07852 428287 to speak to the Macmillan Information Specialist and confirm we are open. The service is available Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm (excluding bank holidays).
We can provide:
- time to listen and offer support
- details of local and national support services
- information for carers
- information on accessing local complementary therapies and counselling services
- the opportunity to discuss cancer related issues

Cancer information and support at the Royal Free Hospital
The Macmillan Centre for the Royal Free Hospital (RFH) is situated on the ground floor between the Oncology and Cardiology outpatient departments. The centre provides much needed information, as well as having a comfortable and unobtrusive room, which is available anytime for those moments needing a little more privacy.
The centre offers a Monday to Friday service for anyone affected by Cancer, and is managed by Jane Lewis Information Specialist, with on-going support from her team of volunteers. Jane and her team are there to welcome & support everyone in various dimensions such as supportive listening, provision of up-to-date information, and drop-in for a cup of tea, or for signposting to many other areas such as counselling, massage, focus groups, fundraising, and welfare benefits.
The Citizens Advice Office is based adjacent to our Macmillan centre, offering advice only to patients being treated at the RFH, in addition to their relatives & carers. The advice covers topics such as Benefits, Housing, Debts, Employment Advice, Charity Applications, Travel concessions; E.G blue badge. An appointment system for this is in place; however, there is a drop-in service on a Friday morning between the hours of 10:00a.m & 1PM.
The Counselling Services at the RFH accept referrals only for RFH patients and their families. However, we are able to signpost to Maggi’s/Cancerkin; a service offering a range of support systems, including counselling; this service extends to both RFH patients & non-RFH patients.

Macmillan Centre Opening hours
Monday – Thursday 10-4
Information Specialist is in Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 4pm. The centre is manned by trained volunteers on all other times except Friday afternoons.
