Musculoskeletal out-patient appointments

How long is an appointment?

New patient appointments last 30-45 minutes. Subsequent appointments are up to 30 minutes long.

What should I bring?

  1. Shorts or a vest. You may be asked to undress to allow an accurate assessment depending on the body part that is being examined
  2. Any information relating to your current condition, such as clinic appointments or letters/reports about previous treatments
  3. A list of current medications

What happens if English is not my first language?

If you require a translator please contact the department prior to your appointment and state the language you require.

What happens if I do not have access to a car and I am unable to use public transport to attend an appointment?

Hospital transport is available to patients who are deemed physically unable to make their own way to their appointment by one of our physiotherapists. Please contact the department if you require this.

What happens if I do not attend my appointment?

Non-attendance policy

Due to time lost each week caused by patient non-attendance, we have had to introduce a strict policy. If you wish to cancel or change a scheduled appointment we require you to contact the physiotherapy department before your appointment time. Failure to do so will result in you being discharged. Use our online form to change or cancel an existing physiotherapy appointment.

Further, if you cancel or change a scheduled appointment on two occasions then you will also be discharged.

And finally if you attend an appointment 15 minutes late on more than one occasion you will also be discharged.
