Physiotherapy - Burns and plastics (children and adults)

This service is a regional service working closely with patients who require plastic surgery and who have minor burns.

The physiotherapists and occupational therapists work very closely together to rehabilitate patients who require skin grafts, flaps, breast reconstructions and other forms of plastic surgery. They also treat patients who are on the ward after hand trauma or hand surgery. All staff work with both adults and children and provide exercises, advice and education and scar management as large parts of the rehabilitation. They also treat patients who require chest physiotherapy after surgery.

There is a system of "blanket" referral for in-patients, this means that the patients on each ward are considered on a daily basis, and their need for physiotherapy is assessed.

Location

The therapists are located on the plastic surgery ward: 6 East.

Service hours

Monday - Friday 8am to 4pm.
