Biography

Dr Hugh Ip graduated from Imperial College London, and completed his respiratory training in South London. He was appointed as a consultant in respiratory and acute medicine in 2021.

He is the lead for pleural disease at Royal Free. He is an expert level thoracic ultrasound operator, and he performs ultrasound guided procedures (such as pleural and lung biopsies, and indwelling pleural catheter insertion).

Hugh completed a pleural disease fellowship at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Trust and is trained in medical thoracoscopy. His clinical research interest is in pleural disease.

He runs a lung cancer clinic, working alongside the lung cancer multidisciplinary team. He runs a bronchochoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound list.
