Dr Cross trained in Edinburgh in Scotland before moving to London in 1996 where she completed her speciality training. She undertook a PhD on the effects of renal failure on blood vessels.

Dr Cross has lead the dialysis team at the Royal Free London for many years developing renal services, and overseeing the building of three new NHS dialysis units, and now leads the service in her role as clinical director in north central London.

Dr Cross has developed a complex hypertension service to identify potentially remediable underlying reasons for the onset of severe hypertension. She has a wealth of experience in the management of dialysis, vascular disease, diabetic kidney disease and hypertension.
