Dr Gupta graduated from King’s College London in 2008. She started specialist renal training in at the Royal Free Hospital and Royal London Hospital in 2012.

During her training she did an MsC in genomic medicine at Imperial followed by a PhD in renal genetics at University College London (UCL) researching the genetic aspects of a rare kidney disease called membranous nephropathy. She became a renal consultant in September 2022.

Areas of interest are nephrotic syndrome, encompassing membranous nephropathy, minimal change nephropathy and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis. She also manages a haemodialysis cohort and has an interest in peritoneal dialysis.

Dr Gupta is an educational supervisor, teaching medical students and junior doctors and is an honorary professor at UCL.
