Biography

I am a general paediatrician and fill-time NHS consultant with an interest in allergy and asthma. I am currently the lead for this service here at the Royal Free Hospital. I have been providing this service at the Royal Free Hospital since 2007 and our NHS service sees over 200 children a month.
I provide an initial assessment of children with suspected food allergy and then if required we provide skin prick testing on the same day. Nearly all food allergies are caused by a small number of foods (milk, egg, nuts, fish, shellfish, sesame, wheat, soya).
With skin prick testing we can diagnose food allergies within 15 minutes. We will then provide education and training on food avoidance and emergency treatment plans if required.
