Biography

Mr. Voultsos is a seasoned Consultant General Surgeon with several years of experience in the filed of surgery. After obtaining his medical degree from Pecs University Hospital, Pecs, he completed his surgical residency at Tzaneio General Hospital, a major tertiary referral hospital in Athens, Greece, where he developed a keen interest in minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery, with a particular focus on laparoscopic and robotic procedures.

He obtained a master's degree in the application of Robotic Surgery in General Surgery from the University of Athens. He has extended his surgical armamentarium by working and doing fellowships in several centres of excellence in Europe and overseas (New York Presbyterian Hospital, New York, USA; Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden; Addenbrookes University Hospital, Cambridge, England).

Throughout his career, Mr. Voultsos has been dedicated to patient care, prioritising minimally invasive techniques to reduce recovery time and improve patient outcomes. His commitment to education is evident in his role as a mentor to surgical trainees and medical students, sharing his expertise and experience to nurture the next generation of surgeons. 

As a consultant, Mr. Voultsos provides expert opinions on complex surgical cases and is often called upon to perform challenging surgeries both withing his surgical practice in England but overseas as well. He is the current Surgical Clinical Lead in General, Emergency and Colorectal Surgery in Barnet Hospital. He is an active member of several professional surgical societies and has been sharing his knowledge in conferences whilst he remains updated with the latest surgical techniques and innovations. He has been applying his surgical expertise in his NHS and private practice (UK and overseas) with excellent results. He is one of the leaders of North Central London Complex Hernia Pathway and is actively trying to implement robotic surgery in Barnet Hospital. 

In his free time, Mr. Voultsos is an avid off-road cyclist and kite-surfer, two hobbies that he believes help him to maintain the stamina and focus required for his demanding profession. His commitment to his patients, his passion for teaching and his continued pursuit of surgical excellence make him an respected figure in the surgical community.

Mr Voultsos has undertaken research projects in all major hospitals he has worked at (Tzaneio Hospital, Athens, Greece; Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden; Addenbrookes University Hospital, Cambridge, England; Barnet hospital, London, England). He has published  numerous papers and abstracts in peer reviewed medical journals for some of which he remains a peer reviewer himself.

His latest interest applies to health economics whereby he researches ways to optimize the processes within the NHS whilst improving patient outcomes and satisfaction.  He is also leading the effort in setting up a North London Alliance Surgical Fellowship in Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery.
