Biography

Mr Neel Sengupta is a consultant colorectal and general surgeon specialising in the management of colorectal cancer and advanced endoscopy. He graduated from the Royal Free University Medical School and undertook basic surgical training in London.

He undertook his PhD in colorectal cancer genetics at the Blizard Institute, the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. He subsequently undertook higher surgical training in the East of England Deanery and successfully completed the prestigious John Goligher Colorectal Fellowship at St James Hospital in Leeds.

He was appointed to the Royal Free London in 2018 and undertakes laparoscopic colorectal surgery at the Royal Free Hospital. His clinics and on calls are at Barnet Hospital and his endoscopy is at Chase Farm Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital. He is the clinical governance lead for surgery and the University College London Year 4 specialty lead for surgery.

He is a member of the External Affairs Committee of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI) and sits as the ACPGBI representative on the council of the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons (AUGIS).
