Biography

Mr Asaria qualified from Southampton University in 1989 and began his specialist ophthalmology training in 1992, specialising in retinal disease. He has been working as a consultant at the Royal Free London 2005.

He has developed an active research team and leads the research for ophthalmology at the Royal Free Hospital. He is also the lead for undergraduate ophthalmology teaching at University College London Medical School and is an associate professor.

Mr Asaria is actively involved in humanitarian work and has helped set up surgical retina services in Iraq and other countries. He sees this part of his professional career as being both rewarding and very humbling.

He specialises in retinal disease, cataract, general ophthalmology, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and vein occlusions.
