Biography

Mr Rohit Jolly is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon with subspecialist interests in paediatric ophthalmology, adult strabismus and cataract surgery and general ophthalmology. He is the clinical service lead for ophthalmology at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, where he holds a substantive NHS consultant post. 

Mr Jolly graduated from the University College London with a degree in medicine and also a first-class honours in neuroscience, for which he achieved the Dean’s list prize for recognition of his outstanding achievement. He undertook his ophthalmic training within the North Thames London Deanery, rotating through many different hospitals including the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, acquiring a breadth of experience from leading clinicians within their fields as well as winning prizes for quality improvement and leadership. 

He has furthered his extensive experience by undertaking a fellowship at the Royal Free in paediatric ophthalmology, adult strabismus and cataract surgery, learning the modern techniques of squint surgery as well as its medical management. In addition to this he has a keen interest in acute ophthalmic care and has held the position of a consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital in the busiest dedicated ophthalmic eye casualty department in Europe. 

Mr Jolly has always been passionate about teaching and training. He is heavily involved in the education of junior ophthalmic surgeons as well as expanding the role of general medical physicians and optometrists in the management of ophthalmic complaints. He has been involved in setting up a number of teaching programmes to help equip professionals with the highest level of understanding and confidence, in order to provide patients with the best care possible. 

The approach to patient care has to be specifically tailored to each individual, whether a child or adult, and involve them along this journey and decision making process. This principle is something Mr Jolly firmly believes in and his compassionate, calm and competent approach is something that puts him in a position where patients have continued to place trust in him.
