Biography

Mr Mellor qualified from Manchester University Medical School in 1992 and has been working in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery since 1996. During 2003 and 2004 he undertook an Orthopaedic Fellowship in Melbourne (Australia), specialising in hip and knee surgery. He is currently a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Barnet and Chase Farm NHS Trust, and has joined the Orthopaedic Faculty of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
He specialises in joint and ligament problems of the hip and knee, anterior hip replacement which minimises muscle damage during surgery. His special interests include arthroscopy; resurfacing and revision replacements; ligament reconstruction surgery; keyhole surgery techniques for meniscal and cartilage repair; surgery for patella-femoral disease including patellar dislocation; re-alignment osteotomies; partial and total knee replacements and revision knee replacements.
Mr Mellor has experience in computer navigation and patient-specific jigs for knee replacement surgery, and an interest in accelerated rehabilitation following joint replacement surgery.
