Biography

Prof Bex is a urologic surgeon who cares for people with kidney cancer, cancer of the renal pelvis and ureter, and adrenal tumours. As consultant clinical lead of the Specialist Centre for Kidney Cancer at the Royal Free London, he leads experts dedicated to researching and treating renal cancer.

He is a professor at University College London and am affiliated with the Netherlands Cancer Institute, Amsterdam, where I performed major surgery for urological cancers for over 20 years.

In kidney cancer, he has more than 25 years of experience and perform about 150 kidney and adrenal surgeries annually.

Prof Bex's are of expertise includes combining of medical therapy and surgery for advanced kidney cancer. He often works with local and international experts in medical oncology.

He is the principal investigator of several practice changing trials in kidney cancer and international key opinion leader of locally advanced renal cancer.

Prof Bex's area of expertise includes the combination of medical therapy and surgery for advanced kidney cancer. He works together with local and international experts in medical oncology to include these types of operations in clinical trials.

Through studies they investigate therapies stimulating the immune system to attack the cancer given before or after surgery which can improve people’s outcomes.

He is the principal investigator of several practice changing trials in kidney cancer which were published in leading journals, an international key opinion leader of locally advanced renal cancer and has an extensive multidisciplinary network of international experts supporting people diagnosed with kidney cancer.
