Christmas has come early for the young patients of Barnet Hospital with a special visit from Arsenal’s team mascot. Gunnersaurus played the role of Father Christmas today bringing presents and smiles to the patients and staff of Galaxy ward.
With visiting restrictions still in place at the hospital due to the coronavirus pandemic, Gunnersaurus was met by members of the hospital’s play team and presented them with sacks of ‘roar-some’ gifts for Galaxy’s young patients. Despite not being able to enter the hospital, Gunnersaurus delighted staff and members of the public, posing for photos and elbow-bumps of greeting.
Andrea Nicolas, senior play specialist said: “It means a lot to the children for Gunnersaurus to take the time to do this even if we can’t have him up on the ward this year.”
Isabel Mason, a student play specialist added: “It’s great to see Gunnersaurus isn’t letting coronavirus stop him spreading a bit of happiness to our younger patients.”
