Six doctors from the Royal Free London (RFL) have been honoured at UCLPartners’ first education and training awards.

The UCLPartners Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education awards saw Saurabh Jain, a consultant ophthalmologist at the RFL, named educational supervisor of the year for his work delivering high-quality training to medical, post-graduate and foundation year ophthalmology students.

Fellow consultant ophthalmologist Jennifer Forbes was awarded clinical supervisor of the year, while Dr Nick Murch, a consultant in acute medicine and medical education, picked up training programme director of the year.

Barnet Hospital had three winners on the night as Dr Louise Schofield, consultant physician in palliative care, won director of medical education of the year, Dr Zarina Khan, education centre manager, won medical education manager of the year and Dr Clifford Lisk, consultant physician in acute medicine and geriatric medicine, won training programme director chair of the year.

The RFL is a founding member of UCLPartners, one of the world’s leading centres of medical discovery, healthcare innovation and education.

Saurabh said: “It’s fantastic that the RFL has won three awards. It just shows what great work we are doing at the trust in teaching and training.

“Mine and Jenny’s award is a testament to the hard work of all the consultants who are committed to the training and education of the next generation of ophthalmologists.
