Football teammates Fraser Forster and Djed Spence have given Santa a run for his money this season with a very special visit to Barnet Hospital.
Tottenham Hotspur’s goalie and right-back defender spent an afternoon at the children’s ward, delivering gifts and chatting to young patients, parents and staff.
And they made one young patient and her father’s day. Clara and Cagdas Canbolat are both big Spurs fans and made the players feel right at home with a “Come on you Spurs” banner above her bed.
Cagdas revealed: “Clara is probably one of Spurs’ youngest season ticket holders! She has had a ticket since she was a month old. She’s 17 months old now and hasn’t been able to go to a match yet but it’s great that some of the players took the time to come and visit her. We are a Tottenham Hotspur family!”
Clara asked Fraser if she could give him a fist bump and he kindly obliged!
One month old Ameliana Laidman’s mum, Helenna, was delighted to meet the duo. She said: “It’s been a difficult few weeks for us but little things like this help to make things brighter.”
Frasier said: “Thank you to everyone at Barnet Hospital for having us. It was really nice to be able to get out in the community and spread some Christmas cheer.”
Djed Spence added: “Thank you to the patients, parents, and staff at Barnet Hospital. Seeing the children today was a brilliant experience and hopefully we were able to put a smile on their faces.”
Deborah Sanders, chief executive of Barnet Hospital, said: “We were delighted to welcome the players.. It means so much to the children and their families to have some special visitors bringing gifts this time of year and our staff certainly appreciate them making this special festive trip to our hospital!”
