Arsenal top scorers Alexandre Lacazette and Alex Iwobi spread some festive cheer to children at Barnet Hospital bringing Christmas presents and playing the role of Father Christmas.
They were joined by goalkeeper Emi Martinez, midfielder Emile Smith Rowe and star striker from the Arsenal Women’s team Vivianne Miedema.
Fresh from a win last night the players sparkled as they distributed sacks of presents, as well as posing for photographs and signing autographs for the children and their families.
It was clear from all the smiling faces that the surprise visit was a success among the children and their parents, with plenty of new toys to play with and the chance for them to meet their heroes.
Kimberley Gabriel mum to Rocco, 20 months said: “Rocco will most probably be in hospital for Christmas so a visit from the Arsenal players was priceless. Our family are big fans so this was wonderful.”
Arsenal fan Arsby Amat, 17-year-old, said: “This has made my day, my friends will be so jealous.”
Christine Carroll, Barnet Hospital senior sister, added: “It’s really exciting to see them and for them to meet patients and our staff. Everyone has really got a buzz out of it, and it’s lovely to see big smiles on the ward.”
Jill de Graag, play specialist, said: “It was great to see the Gunners. We know that it means the world to the children and their families.”
