The NHS Breast Screening Programme invites all women aged 50 to 70 for breast screening every 3 years.

Earlier today it was announced that Public Health England (PHE) have become aware of a technical problem which has led to some women between 68 and 71 years of age not being invited for their final breast screening appointment.

PHE is writing to all women registered with a GP who have been affected by this incident. These women will be invited for a catch-up breast screen.

PHE have set up a free helpline for women. If you:

  • have been diagnosed with breast cancer at any time since you were 71 years old
  • have changed address or GP
  • would like further information

Please call the free helpline on: 0800 169 2692.

If you have been diagnosed with cancer, please tell the helpline operator and they will be able to support you.
