Work to connect the new Chase Farm Hospital to gas and electricity supplies is due to start on 6 February 2017, with an estimated completion date of 31 May.
To enable this work to take place external roadworks will start at the main hospital entrance on The Ridgeway, along Lavender Hill concluding on Chase Side and Drapers Road. Temporary traffic lights and controls will be installed, and the roadworks will be completed in 50 metre sections.
The works are essential for the development of the new hospital. Careful planning has taken place with the utility companies, Enfield Council and Highways England to minimise disruption to local residents, patients and staff.
On site roadworks will start at the main entrance and continue through the site to the new hospital. The works will not cause any closures to internal roads but some pedestrian routes will be diverted. Temporary crossings and signs will be put in place.
All services will remain open as usual, however drivers are being asked to allow sufficient time for their journeys and we recommend entering through the Hunters Way entrance.
Fiona Jackson, Chase Farm Hospital director, said: “We would like to reassure members of the public that all of Chase Farm Hospital, including our urgent care centre (UCC), will be open during the works and our UCC is the right place to come for injuries and illnesses that are urgent but not life threatening.”
The redevelopment of Chase Farm Hospital represents a major investment in the hospital, with the existing buildings set to be replaced with modern healthcare facilities. The new hospital is scheduled to open in autumn 2018.
