A consultant at the Royal Free London is looking for healthy older volunteers (particularly men aged 60 or older) to participate in a clinical trial aimed at understanding autoimmune diseases.

Professor Alan Salama, a consultant nephrologist, is trying to understand why some people recover from autoimmune diseases while others do not.

He is looking for volunteers to come to the Royal Free Hospital for a screening visit. They will then be asked to come back to the hospital for two study visits that are six months apart. During each study visit volunteers will be required to donate a blood sample.

Volunteers must be healthy with no history of autoimmune disease (for example rheumatoid arthritis or lupus), chronic viral infections or cancer within the past five years. For more information or to volunteer for the study please contact Professor Salama on 020 7794 0500 ext 36007 or email him on alan.salama@nhs.net or contact Cindy Bhagwandin on 020 7794 0500 ext 31118.
