Payment and getting my medicine

Will I have to pay?

Normal prescription charges apply to all medicines dispensed for NHS out-patients. If you are entitled to free prescriptions you are asked to sign the prescription and show proof of exemption. Private patients have to pay the full cost of any medicines dispensed.

How do I get my medicines?

At Barnet Hospital and Chase Farm Hospital, all prescriptions are dispensed by the out-patient pharmacy on each site. At the Royal Free Hospital, if your hospital doctor prescribes you medicines during your out-patient appointment from Monday to Friday, these are dispensed at the Lloydspharmacy. Any prescriptions dispensed by Lloydspharmacy can only be collected from Monday to Friday. If you receive an out-patient prescription on a Saturday or Sunday this will be dispensed by the in-patient pharmacy.
