The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust has one of the larger hospital pharmaceutical production units in the country. We have a manufacturer's "specials" licence, an investigational medicinal products (IMP) licence and a wholesale dealer's licence and are able to make and distribute a wide range of products.

Royal Free Specials has decades of experience in meeting customer needs and is always ready to discuss new product requests, including Investigational Medical Products for use in clinical trials. Our product range includes: over-encapsulation of tablets and capsules, matching placebos, creams, ointments, injections, oral solutions, pre-filled syringes and infusers. A large range of non-sterile, terminally sterilised and aseptically prepared products are kept in stock, others are made to patient-specific prescriptions and we can custom-make a batch to your specifications. We have a number of pharmacies across our sites. A pharmacist will check your prescription to ensure that it is safe and appropriate. A discussion may be needed with the doctor before it can be dispensed and some medicines need to be ordered or specially made, which may increase your waiting time.
