Our specialist vascular surgery service provides diagnosis and treatment for the full range of arterial, venous and lymphatic diseases.

It is a 24-hour service at consultant level for all vascular emergencies.

The team has a strong reputation for excellent care for patients with vascular disease, including the treatment of:

  • aneurysms
  • peripheral vascular disease
  • diabetic foot disease
  • vascular anomalies
  • carotid disease
  • venous disease
  • leg ulcers
  • lymphoedema
  • hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

As patients with vascular disease frequently have multisystem disease, the service works with specialist doctors and nurses from other teams at the trust to ensure patients have the best possible care.

The vascular malformation service specialises in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with vascular malformations.

A broad spectrum of patients can be referred, including those with arterio-venous, venous or lymphatic malformations, as well as related overgrowth conditions.

We work closely with specialists in plastic surgery, haematology, orthopaedics, head and neck surgery, surgical appliances and the paediatric vascular anomalies team at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Clinics usually run on Thursday afternoons.

We hold regular outpatient clinics at our hubs.

There are additional specialist multidisciplinary clinics where we involve other specialist teams at the Royal Free Hospital. These are for patients with complex aneurysmal disease, diabetic foot disease and vascular anomalies.
