Lend Lease team photoOn 2 October 33 employees from Lend Lease, a multinational property and infrastructure company, descended on the Royal Free Hospital as part of their commitment to important environment, community and social causes. The team spent the day working on areas which benefit patients, visitors and staff.

Jeanett Wren, who organised the group from Lend Lease said, “Every year all Lend Lease employees around the world give a day of their time to support important projects. Employees are encouraged to identify and manage a project and the Royal Free Hospital was chosen by this group as it has a special meaning for a number of Lend Lease employees – it is where their children were born and where their families are supported.”

The team did a brilliant job repainting the hospital chapel, giving a lick of paint to the Sheila Sherlock Centre and sprucing up the entrance to the heart attack centre with some new potted plants.

“On behalf of the multi-faith chaplaincy team here at the Royal Free I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the volunteers from Lend Lease who threw themselves into the repainting of the chapel with enormous enthusiasm” said lead chaplain David Rushton. “The chapel was alive with laughter and the team effort brought with it a real sense of energy, as we worked towards creating an enhanced environment for the many patients, visitors and staff who seek out the chapel daily for peace and reflection. Thank you also to all of the trust staff and chaplaincy volunteers who helped to make the day a great success.”

Elaine Donnellon, voluntary services manager added, “This has been an excellent example of how the Royal Free London, the Royal Free Charity and organisations such as Lend Lease can work together for the greater good of the hospital. Thank you and acknowledgement to the capital and estates team, who have contributed and supported us to make this all happen.”
