Our annual review of the year, including our performance during 2022 to 2023, our work to improve patient care and our independently audited accounts, has now been published.
The report celebrates the many achievements of staff at the Royal Free London despite the pressures of long waiting lists, a high demand for emergency care and the impact of industrial action and the cost-of-living crisis. As chairman Mark Lam outlined in his welcome letter to the report: “It’s been a year of challenge and change for the NHS and life at the Royal Free London has been no different. Our staff have responded, as they always do, with focus and fortitude and I would like to thank them for their incredible focus on delivering world class care for our patients.”
Some of the highlights included are the opening of the NIHR Royal Free Clinical Research Facility, the record number of patients recruited to research studies, 30 years of caring for those living with HIV at the Ian Charleson Day Centre and a £16 million investment in cancer services thanks to funding from the Royal Free Charity.
