Bedwetting (nocturnal enuresis) is a medical condition which should be treated in children from age five. Around 15% of all seven-year-olds regularly wet the bed.

Our service offers advice and support for children and their parent or carers, as well as self-help measures and other treatments from our clinics at Chase Farm Hospital and Edgware Community Hospital.

Children who have severe daytime wetting, constipation or soiling should see their GP who can refer them to the general paediatric clinic if needed.

We see all children who live in the boroughs of Enfield and Barnet.

We accept referrals from all health professionals. Please download and complete the relevant referral form below and send to: rf-tr.paednocturnalenuresis@nhs.net

At the first face-to-face nocturnal enuresis (night-time bedwetting) appointment we will undertake a holistic assessment, taking into consideration your and your child's concerns, to establish the best way to manage the condition. This will be done in discussion with you and your child and documented in a letter that will be sent to you and your child's GP by post.

Please come to the appointment with information about what and how much you drink each day and how many times you pass urine.

At your appointment we will:

  • explain why bedwetting happens
  • outline the different treatments of alarm therapy and medication
  • give advice about drinking and toileting
  • ask you to complete a night-time bedwetting diary

Some children may also need to undertake a urine test if they have not already been carried out.
