The Royal Free London’s research and development (R&D) team are celebrating after being given an award by the North Thames Clinical Research Network (CRN).
The team won the R&D office of the year at the CRN’s annual awards held in central London.
They were recognised for their work in removing barriers to research and in particular for the appointment of an involvement and inclusion manager who works to ensure patients and staff of all backgrounds take part in research by improving engagement and developing training for staff.
Other inclusion initiatives include mentoring and education events. The team were also praised for their value for money – with the office providing the best value for money off all academic trusts within the north Thames region.
Research forms a key pillar of the trust's tripartite mission and our clinical strategy. You can read more on this here.
The awards were held at the Royal College of Physicians’ London offices last Thursday with around 150 people in attendance. Both individuals and teams were recognised across a wide range of categories. The Clinical Research Network is part of the National Institute for Health and Care Research.
The Royal Free London’s R&D team were recognised alongside Wittington Health’s R&D team as joint winners.
Lucy Parker, interim director of R&D for the Royal Free London said: “Huge congratulations to everyone in the team.
“This award highlights their exceptional dedication to innovation and excellence in research management and governance. It is testament to their commitment to providing excellent support to researchers and fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.”
